Beakman's World
Mass Affects Gravity
Beakman uses his telescope to look at Jupiter and then explains the difference in gravity on Jupiter vs earth. He explains the size of jupiter affects the gravitational pull. He shows astronauts on the space station floating around to show how less gravity affects us. It doesn't squish you (more gravity) or make you taller (less gravity). It simply affects the ability to be grounded.

0:01
their beakman
0:02
is it true there's no gravity on Jupiter

Jeffrey Jacobs
0:06
know
0:07
what it is true there's no night life they're
0:12
actually
0:13
jumper has lots and lots of gravity mr. Jacobs
0:17
let's take a closer look right now
0:19
let's wish
0:20
to the super scope
0:22
you know that Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system
0:25
and it's beautiful to it's great
0:27
wow look at that are you
0:30
gotta see this right come on in tight check it out take a look
0:34
at
0:35
the area you're looking at is a giant mass of clouds swirling like a hurricane
0:41
it's called the Great Red Spot
0:44
you know
0:44
I had a great red spot once
0:47
it was nasty looking thing about an inch across right in the middle of my forehead
0:51
anyway so I didn't want to squeezing you know
0:53
so
0:53
I got some of this point mint stuff
0:57
sharing that with us Lester
1:00
anyway
1:01
Jupiter's red spot is three times as large
1:05
as our planet Earth
1:07
also you know the Jupiter spins so fast a day only takes
1:12
about 10 hours
1:13
well
1:14
there goes by 11 hours of sleep
1:18
gravity out there
1:20
well there's a lot more gravity out there on Jupiter
1:23
than there is down here on Earth
1:25
in fact gravity is so strong there
1:28
that you would weigh about two and a half times what you weigh on Earth
1:33
who 1/2 times you'll wake
1:36
memo tummy
1:37
look in the putting up a diet set on Jupiter
1:42
why some more gravity on Jupiter than it is out here
1:45
see Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar
1:48
the system
1:49
how large is it
1:52
it's so large that one thousand earths would fit in it
1:58
was stuff that something
2:00
anything has
2:02
the stronger its gravitational pull
2:05
to Lester
2:06
yeah more people around here than I thought
2:08
if that was true the show would be called Lester's wild
2:12
because Jupiter is so massive it's full of gravity on its surface is more
2:18
more than twice
2:19
what it is here on Earth
2:21
I wonder what I look like on Jupiter
2:24
well
2:24
Wonder no longer
2:35
just kidding
2:36
shows you wouldn't look anything like that
2:38
but I was just doing a cheap video trick
2:41
actually the gravitational pull
2:43
would just be greater
2:45
besides
2:46
it can't really stand on Jupiter
2:48
there's nothing to stand on
2:50
it's just the full of clouds
2:53
they what
2:54
also you are more accurate example
2:56
of what gravity
2:57
would be like
2:58
on Jupiter
2:59
Lester can I please have my balls a lot bowling ball
3:02
off course
3:05
now
3:06
I gotta go okay
3:08
this bowling ball weighs 16 pounds Here and Now on Earth
3:12
but
3:12
if we were on Jupiter
3:14
the bowling ball would actually weigh
3:16
40 pounds
3:19
pounds yeah
3:28
now let me show you how things behave unless
3:31
gravity
3:42
pull-ups
3:44
one
3:46
too many donuts
3:49
three
3:54
